Philips announced the potential for health risks associated with “off-gassing,” the release of dangerous chemicals into the air as the foam degrades. While no reports have been made regarding this specific scenario, patients should be aware of the indications of off-gassing. If you are using an affected Life-Sustaining Ventilator Device, “ do not stop or alter your prescribed therapy until you have talked to your physician."
